PataChuo today announced the official launch of the world’s first social media platform built exclusively for alumni—a groundbreaking leap in the evolution of global online communities.
The launch event, held in Nairobi, brought together media representatives, education leaders, ICT innovators, corporate
partners, and the PataChuo founding team.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Operating Officer Sidney Rukwaro revealed that PataChuo was designed to serve more than 5 billion alumni worldwide, offering a unified digital space where memories, identities, milestones, and shared experiences converge.
Unlike conventional social networks, PataChuo places alumni identity and institutional affiliation at its core—bringing together former students of primary schools, high schools, universities, colleges, and vocational centers across the globe.
At the heart of the platform is the PataChuo Blackboard, a dynamic video- and photo-driven social feed capturing the vibrance, diversity, and fun of alumni culture. Through the Blackboard, users can share class memories, global adventures, nostalgic school moments, mentorship content, and cross-border interactions—seamlessly and all in one place.
Rukwaro affirmed the company’s bold ambition for the platform, describing PataChuo as “the default fun place for alumni globally”—a space where reconnection is effortless and alumni culture thrives across generations and continents.
Beyond its social features, PataChuo provides institutions and alumni groups with tools to organize communities at class, departmental, faculty, or whole-school level. The platform resolves long-standing fragmentation caused by scattered chat groups on generic apps, allowing alumni communities that were previously dispersed across multiple platforms to regroup within a structured, unified digital ecosystem.
The founders emphasized that PataChuo is fully conceived, designed, and developed in Kenya— solidifying the country’s reputation as a hub of youth-led innovation and emerging technology. Over the past three years, the development team has focused on building a platform robust enough to accommodate millions of users while adhering to international data protection and security standards.
The launch event also introduced the PataChuo Affiliates Program, an initiative enabling young people to earn income by inviting fellow alumni to join the platform. This marks one of the region’s most accessible digital empowerment opportunities for youth.
Encouraging widespread uptake, PataChuo CEO and co-founder Felix Nyabuto urged young people “to embrace PataChuo as their gateway to earning a living—from relatives and neighbours to the broader community, where the potential is limitless.”
The event concluded with a live demonstration of PataChuo’s MVP by CEO Felix Nyabuto, showcasing the platform’s user experience, interactive features, and global connectivity capabilities.
In closing remarks, COO Sidney Rukwaro encouraged alumni across Kenya “to lead the way in shaping the global community by joining the fun and connection on PataChuo.”
PataChuo is now open for registration to alumni and institutions worldwide
