United Democratic Alliance Party Grassroots Elections Set for January 10th

Candidates who successfully register will have a full campaign window running until election day
The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has officially set January 10, 2026, as the date for its grassroots polling centre elections across twenty counties.
The decision was reached during a joint meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Elections Board (NEB) chaired by Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki.
In a press statement released on Thursday, the party said the agreement marks the beginning of a structured process to streamline grassroots leadership ahead of the 2026 political calendar.
“Following the joint meeting between the UDA Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Elections Board (NEB) chaired by Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki, EGH, it was RESOLVED that the party conduct grassroots polling centre elections, which will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026,” the party announced.
The Joint Committee immediately unveiled the roadmap guiding the entire election cycle, with registration of aspirants beginning today at midday. The portal, which opened at 12:00 noon on December 4, will remain active for 19 days.
“The Joint Committee has consequently drawn the roadmap to the polls as follows: Registration for aspirants wishing to take part in the election will start on December 4, 2025, at 12:00 noon when the portals will be opened, with this exercise coming to a close on December 23, 2025, at 5:00 PM,” read the statement.
The party further confirmed that the National Elections Board will publish the official notice today in line with internal election procedures.
“The official notice for purposes of the Grassroots Elections will be issued by the National Elections Board (NEB) on December 4, 2025,” it added.
Campaign period outlined
UDA noted that candidates who successfully register will have a full campaign window running until election day. “After the registration of the candidates, aspirants will have a campaigning period that will run up to January 10, when elections will be conducted,” the statement continued.
The exercise will be conducted in twenty counties: Baringo, Bomet, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kericho, Nakuru, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Samburu, Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Kakamega and Vihiga.
The statement, signed by NEB Chairman Anthony Mwaura, noted that additional guidelines will be issued as preparations advance. With the registration portal now open, aspirants have until 5:00 pm on December 23 to submit their applications ahead of the January 10, 2026, grassroots polls.
