Ulinzi Stars Football Club wishes to announce that Head Coach Dunstan Nyaudo has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect
Five times Kenyan Premier league champions Ulinzi Stars FC have sacked head coach Dunstan Nyaudo after just five matches into the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) SportPesa League season.
The decision was reached on Monday morning following a meeting by the club’s top management.
Nyaudo’s last match in charge was the 3-1 defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday, a result that left the soldiers languishing near the bottom of the standings.
“Ulinzi Stars Football Club wishes to announce that Head Coach Dunstan Nyaudo has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect,” read part of the club’s official statement.
Nyaudo, who came in to replace Anthony Kimani, left Ulinzi Stars in 13th position with five points from five matches. They had registered one win, two draws, and two defeats.
His last assignment came last Sunday when Ulinzi suffered a 3-1 defeat against Kakamega Homeboyz. He becomes the second coach to be shown the exit door after Bandari FC dismissed the entire bench led by Kennedy Odhiambo and hired the services of Moroccan Mohamed Borji.
He began the current season positively, leading Ulinzi to a 1-0 away win over Murang’a Seal, followed by goalless draws against Kariobangi Sharks and Kenya Police FC. However, back-to-back defeats to Mara Sugar and Kakamega Homeboyz sealed his fate.
Former Ulinzi Stars captain and ex-head coach Stephen Ochola has been linked with a possible return to the technical bench, at least in an interim capacity.
His potential comeback, however, could be complicated by the fact that several key players are set to join military training next month, temporarily depleting the squad.
Ulinzi’s next fixture will be against Bidco United on Wednesday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata.
