NAIROBI, KENYA, JANUARY 08, 2026 - 300 bright students from vulnerable households are set to join Grade 10 senior school following full scholarships from The Family Group Foundation’s Tufuzu na Elimu scholarship programme.
The students, selected from 25 counties, will receive full scholarships covering tuition fees, accommodation, school uniforms, and upkeep for the three years of senior school alongside mentorship program training to nurture academic confidence and career readiness.
“The Government through the Ministry has made efforts to ensure standardisation and equalization of secondary schools in Kenya. This means that the facilities and quality of education in all secondary schools are the same. We therefore value such support from the Foundation because continuously investing in education is lifting households from poverty,” said Director General in the Ministry of Education Dr. Elyas Abdi Jillaow.
This marks the first cohort of beneficiaries of the Foundation under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.
“Over the last 14 years, the Bank’s purpose through the Foundation has been to deliver long-term social and economic value to our communities. Through this programme, we have ensured that financial circumstances do not stand in the way of the academic potential of over 3000 students from vulnerable households nationwide, by investing in the education sector and other vital community initiatives”, said Family Bank CEO Nancy Njau.
The Tufuzu na Elimu programme has supported over 3,000 students nationwide in high school and tertiary education, with the programme recording an 80% successfully transition to tertiary education and job market respectively.
