Swift Academy Invites Applications For Emerging Music Creatives and Professionals based in Nairobi
Applications are now open for Swift Academy. The first edition of the pan-African talent development platform created by Martell and curated by Africa House. Open to emerging music creatives and professionals based in Nairobi, the programme will bring selected participants together for mentorship, practical development, industry access and collaboration.
Who can apply?
- Emerging artists, producers, songwriters and music industry professionals based in Nairobi.
- Twenty-five (25) participants will be selected to take part in a programme combining practical learning, mentorship, industry access, collaboration and continued creative development.
- All in-person programme activities will take place in Nairobi. Martell and Africa House will not provide or reimburse travel, accommodation, meals, local transportation or any other expenses incurred by participants travelling to or staying in Nairobi in connection with the programme.
Selected participants are responsible for making and funding their own arrangements to attend all required programme activities.

What to expect?
Every Martell Swift Academy participant will receive professional tools tailored to their development needs, direct mentorship from industry experts, access to a network of peers and collaborators across four markets, and a grant.
The Nairobi edition will bring participants in direct contact with mentors spanning different areas of the music and creative industries, including Bensoul, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist; Michael Gachiri, filmmaker and creative director; Anyiko Owoko, music publicist and curator; Njerae, singer, songwriter and producer; and Joey Akan, music journalist and cultural commentator.
The programme also includes practical workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities. Following the initial Swift Academy experience, participants will have access to a creative hub for an additional three weeks, where they can continue developing their work, apply what they have learned and collaborate with others. The programme will culminate in a showcase celebrating their progress.
