The Glamour Boys edged out 10-man Posta Rangers 1-0 in their season opener played at Wang'uru Stadium, Mwea, on Saturday, 10 October.

The all important goal was scored by Ghanaian forward Abdul Hafiz midway through the second half when Hazif collected Brian Bett's pass and calmly slotted past Odhiambo to hand Shabana the lead.

Posta Rangers captain Bernard Ondiek was shown a straight red card inside the first ten minutes for a DOGSO (Denial of an Obvious Goal-Scoring Opportunity) challenge after pulling down Derrick Otanga, who was bearing down on goal.

The result gives Shabana an early boost in the standings as they bagged the league's first win, sitting top of the log, while Posta Rangers, now sit bottom of the league standings.

The encounter also proved a historic one on the touchline, as Shabana’ s tactician Ahmed Fathy became the first-ever Egyptian to coach in the SportPesa League and the first foreign boss to lead Tore Bobe in top-flight football, lining up against counterpart former Kenya's national team coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno of Posta Rangers.
