In the girls 100m backstroke 12/13 years category, Alisha Imani of Woodcreek School won the gold medal in a time of 1:28.58. She said that she knew about the tournament early which enabled her to prepare adequately. She is happy with some of her times and wishes to work harder to improve them. The silver medal was won by Elle Wanaitha from Braeburn Swimming Club in a time of 1:39.00. The bronze medal went to Neema Noella from Orca Swim Club in a time of 1:41.98.

Coach Brian Macharia of Nawiri Swim Club said that their club comprises juniors, seniors and masters swimmers. Their club has been performing very well in the Iron Man, Half Iron Man and Triathlon events. They are now focused on building their athletes to replicate the same high standards in swimming events. He said his passion for swimming was ignited by growing up around rivers in Kirinyaga. His goal is to develop award-winning athletes. Some of the challenges he faces as a coach is access to coaching knowledge. Despite being a university graduate with a sports science degree, he says a coach needs to be willing to learn more to produce high-performing athletes.

Joy Mathenge, an athlete from Visa Dolphin Club, emphasised the need to learn swimming as it is the only sport that can give a child or an adult a lifetime gift of life-saving in case of drowning. She also appreciated the support she has received from her parents, coaches and KCAA for organising well-managed events.

The Public Relations Officer, Nesmas Mbati, said that a lot of athletes were able to attain National Time Trials, reflecting the improved performance of Kiambu County athletes. Coming up next is the Minnows Meet to be held on 31st October 2026 at Potterhouse Junior School.
