Opposition Coalition Azimio la Umoja Rebrands to Ukombozi Alliance

The political vehicle of the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the 2022 presidency the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition has rebranded its name to the Ukombozi Alliance.

Former Vice President and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced the rebranding on Monday, September 21st, 2026, saying it had been approved by all parties within the coalition.

“Azimio la Umoja coalition has today unanimously agreed to rebrand and change its name to the Ukombozi Alliance,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo noted that all necessary action will be taken after the meeting, including the official handover of the coalition's chairmanship to the Registrar of Political Parties.

The changes were announced Kalonzo convened a Joint National Executive Council and Council meeting of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party, which has officially been rebranded as The Ukombozi Alliance.

The meeting brought together leaders from across the coalition, including David Murathe of Jubilee, DP Party Leader JB Muturi, DAP K Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, alias Jicho Pevu, Linda Mwananchi spokesman Caroli Omondi, ex-assistant minister Omingo Magara (People's Democratic Party), Jubilee Party Secretary General Ole Kenta Moitalel, former Senator Lenny Kivuti (Devolution Empowerment Party) and Kanu General Secretary George Wainaina, among other leaders.
