ODM Rally Ends Abruptly in Chaos at Jacaranda
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) rally at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi ended abruptly on Saturday after suspected goons took to the stage and grabbed the microphone as leaders were introducing themselves.
However, the gathering took an unexpected turn as the political atmosphere became increasingly tense, with the meeting ultimately ending in chaos.
The unexpected turn of events sparked panic, with leaders and residents scrambling for safety as confusion engulfed the gathering.
One of the individuals who took the microphone was heard telling the crowd, “Msitoroke,” as the situation unfolded.
It remains unclear what triggered the disruption or who the individuals were.
Thousands of supporters had gathered at the iconic grounds, with several senior political figures expected to use the occasion to reaffirm their commitment to the party and Raila’s political legacy.
The gathering was organised to mark the climax of the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) month-long Mwezi wa Baba commemorations in honour of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The party held a month-long series of activities in honour of Raila, culminating in the Nairobi rally on Saturday, October 31.
The event brought together party leaders, elected officials and supporters for speeches and political engagements marking the end of the commemorations.
Among the prominent leaders associated with the gathering were Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed.
