ODM Nairobi County Youth Leader Brian Shem Owino "Nairobee" Rallies Youth Ahead of Key Convention
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) youth leader and aspiring Kibra Member of Parliament Brian Shem Owino has called on young people in Nairobi to rally behind the party to strengthen it.
Speaking ahead of the party's national youth convention set to be held tomorrow, Monday, 20 April 2026, at Jamhuri Show Ground, Shem noted that for the ODM party to continue gaining support, the young people who subscribe to ODM ideologies must rise to the occasion and give their support to the party and its leaders.
"We want to have a strong ODM party, and to get there, we, as the youth, must rise and claim our positions in the party. We are no longer the leaders of tomorrow. We are up to the task now, and we, as the youth, must support this party to the man for it to grow, take over the country's leadership and see more celebrations of milestones," Shem said.
The ODM party is set to hold its national youth convention following the Special Delegates Congress held last month at the same venue.
Brian Shem Owino, who is eyeing the Kibra parliamentary seat in the next general elections, noted that the youth in Nairobi have long supported the party and are willing to go the extra mile, saying that their contribution to the party must also be commensurate with the opportunities they get.
"We call on the ODM youths from all over Nairobi to turn up during the youth convention in Nairobi County and support the party to keep growing. Our collective growth lies with our collective responsibility and commitment to the people," Shem asserted.
"We want our party to keep getting vibrant. Therefore, I call on our youth leaders to come, and we have a discussion about our party and how we can keep growing," he added.
The convention will bring together ODM youth leaders as well as leaders in the party hierarchy. The meeting shall also be attended by the Party Leader, Dr Oburu Odinga, and Langata area MP, Felix Odiwuor Jalang'o, among other ODM leaders.
