Kenyan hip-hop star Henry Ohanga, alias Octopizzo, may soon join politics after rallying Kibra residents to register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election. In a message posted on his X account on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the rapper urged his community to take voter registration seriously, describing it as the key to empowerment and meaningful change. He noted that registration gives people the power to choose leaders who truly represent their needs and aspirations. Octopizzo said his focus is on leadership rooted in integrity, honesty, and poverty-conscious service, the kind that puts dignity and opportunity at the centre of governance. He added that the days of empty political rhetoric are over, calling for action and community-driven solutions. The musician, who grew up in Kibra, stressed that the constituency deserves leaders who prioritise impact over politics, suggesting that he could be positioning himself as a voice for the people. “TUCHUKUENI KURA BANA JO Real change starts with us. Registration isn’t just paperwork; it’s power. It’s how communities that have been overlooked finally speak for themselves and shape the future they deserve. I stand on a foundation of poverty-conscious leadership and integrity-driven service, because dignity, opportunity, and honest leadership should never be luxuries for the few!” Octopizzo stated. Adding;n“Your vote is your voice. Register. Show up. Participate. For those who believe in community-driven leadership and real solutions, the time for theory is over. Kibra community deserves representation built on integrity and impact.” This comes months after he held a meeting with former Chief Justice David Maraga. In a statement shared on his official X account on July 2, 2025, Octopizzo revealed that their discussion revolved around the importance of integrity in public service and civic life, describing these as vital values for Kenya’s upcoming generation of leaders. “Today, I had a very impromptu but deeply necessary catch-up with CJ Maraga. Our conversation centred around the values of accountability and honesty, principles that are not just foundational to leadership, but especially critical for the next generation,” Octopizzo wrote. He noted that their dialogue also explored how young people should approach leadership and governance with courage and responsibility. “A key part of our discussion reflected on the kind of courage, integrity, and responsibility that should define our youth engagement,” he noted. “These are the conversations we must keep having, not just in passing, but intentionally as we look ahead to 2027 and beyond,” he stated. “Leadership starts with truth, and it’s time we all lean into that with clarity and conviction,” he added.
