Newsline Media and Training Agency has launched a comprehensive Cybersecurity Industrial Attachment Programme aimed at equipping university and college students with practical skills to combat the growing threat of cybercrime and strengthen Kenya's digital workforce.

The programme targets students pursuing Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Systems and other related disciplines, offering industry-focused training that combines classroom knowledge with real-world practical experience.

The launch comes at a time when organizations across both the public and private sectors are increasingly investing in cybersecurity to protect sensitive information, digital infrastructure and online services from evolving cyber threats.

Through the attachment programme, students will receive practical training in key areas including cybersecurity fundamentals, network security, ethical hacking, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, digital forensics, Security Operations Centre (SOC) operations, cloud security, cyber risk management, identity and access management, security auditing, incident response, malware analysis, encryption, operating system security, web application security, wireless security, phishing prevention and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM).

Participants will also undertake hands-on laboratory exercises, simulated cyberattack scenarios, real-world projects and mentorship sessions designed to expose them to industry-standard tools and cybersecurity best practices.

Speaking during the launch, Newsline Media and Training Agency Managing Director Faith Mukundi said the programme was developed to help bridge the widening cybersecurity skills gap while preparing students for careers in one of the world's fastest-growing technology sectors.
