The FKF Secretariat gathered for an introductory session with the newly appointed General Secretary Dennis Gicheru , as the Federation continues to strengthen its leadership and operations.
Gicheru was just recently appointed, in interim capacity, as the new FKF CEO elevating him from his former position as the FKF head of legal and integrity.
Gicheru was appointed to replace embattled former CEO Harold Ndege, who was removed from office on accusations of gross misconduct, incompetence, corruption and mismanagement.
FKF President Hussein Mohammed has vowed to decisively deal with incompetence and corruption in his resolve to ensure that the federation is run based on the pillars of integrity, transparency and accountability which propelled him to the FKF top office.
It is upon this backdrop that Gicheru was picked to replace Ndege in a bid to bring back confidence and institutional integrity in the FKF secretariat which has for time now, been run by an incompetent head who worked unilateraly sidestepping the federation heirachy.
The Ex-CEO Ndege was removed on accusations of misconduct and incompetence charges which led the FKF National Executive Committee to suspend the CEO.
The FKF Head of Legal Affairs, who is now the Acting General Secretary/CEO had his appointment take effect immediately, temporary pending the advertisement and substantive filling of the position.
Under the leadership of Gicheru, the federation has intensified efforts to curb corruption and restore credibility to the game as well as tackling the runaway match-fixing vices which had plagued the game erstwhile.
As FKF’s CEO/General Secretary, Gicheru will oversee the running of matters in Kenyan football including investigating match-fixing, game manipulation, and bribery.
His appointment comes as an upgrade to the federation's operations following his success in the legal department which he inherited laden with challenges. FKF under the leadership of President Hussein Mohamed came into office while grappling with 21 active legal disputes which Gicheru has meticulously navigated placing the federation in good legal books.
