Mbatia Holds Lead in Embakasi West as September Poll Shows Strong Home-Ward Support

Kariobangi South MCA Hon. Robert Mbatia continues to lead the emerging Embakasi West parliamentary race, according to the latest September InTouch Poll.
Mbatia commands 33 percent support among the 3,000 voters sampled across all wards in the constituency, putting him six percentage points ahead of incumbent MP Hon. Mark Mwenje, who records 27 percent.
Former MP Hon. George Theuri follows with 18 percent, as the three continue to dominate the early voter preference rankings.
Mbatia's strongest numbers come from Kariobangi South, where an impressive 63 percent of the 637 voters sampled expressed support for his parliamentary bid.
The strong home-ward backing provides Mbatia with a substantial political base as he seeks to expand his appeal across the rest of Embakasi West.
Mbatia Yet to Declare
Despite his strong showing, it remains unclear whether Mbatia has formally announced his intention to contest the parliamentary seat.
His emergence at the top of the polls is nevertheless significant, given his long experience in Nairobi county politics. He has represented Kariobangi South in the County Assembly for several terms, building a well-established grassroots network in the process.
Should he formally enter the parliamentary contest, his decision could trigger fresh political realignments within the constituency.
Mwenje Faces a Tougher Contest
The latest figures point to increasing pressure on incumbent MP Mark Mwenje, whose 27 percent support places him behind Mbatia.
The six-point gap between the two could become a key feature of the race if the trend persists.
Theuri's 18 percent support, meanwhile, keeps him firmly in contention and leaves room for significant shifts as the election approaches.
A Race Still Open
While the September figures are only a snapshot of voter sentiment, they highlight Mbatia's current advantage and the strength of his political base in Kariobangi South.
The contest could change considerably once potential candidates formally declare their bids, party nominations take shape and campaigns intensify.
For now, Mbatia remains the frontrunner in Embakasi West at 33 percent, with Mwenje on 27 percent and Theuri at 18 percent.
