UGM aims to nurture and empower the next generation of political leaders who can bring new energy, accountability, and inclusivity into Kenya’s governance
Former Chief Justice David Maraga’s United Green Movement Party (UGM) has officially announced a nationwide call for young aspirants to participate in its upcoming political campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. In the public notice issued on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the party invites youth from across all 47 counties to register and express interest in contesting for various elective positions. These include governor, senator, woman representative, member of the National Assembly, and county assembly positions. Nurturing young leaders According to the announcement, UGM aims to nurture and empower the next generation of political leaders who can bring new energy, accountability, and inclusivity into Kenya’s governance. Registered participants will take part in an in-person session where they will help develop a National Campaign Accountability Charter, a framework that will guide UGM’s strategy and ensure transparency throughout the campaign process. Interested aspirants are encouraged to click and fill in the registration forms through the provided online links before the deadline on 11th November 2025. Speaking separately, in a local TV interview on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Maraga who is the UGM presidential candidate went ahead to say that President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration has failed the country’s young population by lacking solution-oriented policies to solve the youth unemployment crisis. ”Look at the current economy; Kenya’s economy is pathetic. The challenge of unemployment in this country is to revive the economy. We have what it takes to create employment among young people,” Maraga said.
