Aspiring Makadara constituency member of parliament candidate Edwin Kuria has outlined a bright blueprint that seeks to connect the grassroots to the top at the Parliamentary level. Kuria, an astute Sports entrepreneur and Makadara community leader, who is also a board member at Sports Kenya has lined up housing, sports and the arts, infrustructure, education and security as his key pillars as he seeks to make his first stab at elective politics. In his manifesto, Kuria has indicated that his leadership, once elected as the Makadara MP in the 2027 elections, his leadership will be one that connects the grassroots to the top representing the voice, hope and a future for the people of Makadara Contituency. His areas of focus, as outlined in the manifesto includeshousing, where Kuria has promised to work closely with elected committees and officials in every area of Makadara in order to protect the public rights even as the National government goes on a high gear in its implimentation of the affordable housing project in Maringo, Bahati, Jericho and Makongeni areas. An renowned sports entrepreneur and Sports Kenya board member, Kuria promises to use his passion and experience in the area of sports to promote sports and the arts. Top on his agenda, Kuria hopes to use his position in parliament to develop infrastructure in Makadara, which is historically the hub of sports in Nairobi. He promises to promote talent to the highest levels. Kuria has been actively supporting sports activities in Makadara. Last year, Kuria organised a sports tournament at Uhuru Sports Complex which brought together women from vulnerable backgrounds. Kuria has lined up exciting tournaments this year which will seek to help in the development of various sports disciplines among them boxing, volleyball and judo. Kuria has also promised to better the infrastructure in Makadara with the development of a better road network across the constituency, modern markets, and improved drainage systems. Persons living with disabilities will not be left behind as Kuria has their empowerment in his vision for Makadara. Under Kuria, PWD's will enjoy equal opportunities and accessibility to opportunities which includes job creation. Empowering youths and workers in the informal sector like the matatu and bodaboda industries will be key where Kuria has planned to enhance skills development and enterprise support. Among other things oulined in Kuria's manifesto are education development and a fair and transparent issuance of bursaries, strengthening local safety and supporting small businesses and fostering unity and progress to bring together hustlers, elites, and professionals to build a stronger Makadara.
