Mabatini Mca Wilfred Odalo Selected to Lead Funeral Committee for Late Beryl Odinga

In what is seen as a clear sign of confidence from the family of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Mabatini MCA and Mathare MP aspirant Wilfred Odalo will be the head of the resource mobilisation committee in the burial preparations for the late Beryl Lilian Achieng Odinga, sister to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga . Odalo will lead the committee alongside Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo and Nairobi County Chief officer for Water and Sewerage Oscar Omoke. Omoke worked closely with Beryl who is a former Chairperson of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company board. With gratitude and humility, Odalo accepted the arduous task, and committed himself to journey with the ODM Party Leader Dr Oburu Odinga and family, especially during these trying times for the Jaramogi family. Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his family would attend Hon Odalo’s family function including funerals and other celebrations when he was alive and Odalo took over the task. It was an honor from the Greater Jaramogi Family, to entrust Late Beryl's Committee Leadership to Odalo, the next Mathare MP. Beryl Odinga will be buried on Saturday, December 6, at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County, according to confirmation made by Raila Odinga Junior, a nephew of the deceased, who confirmed that the family had convened to agree on the final resting place. Conspicuously, the outgoing Mathare MP Tom Oluoch has been missing in action even as different surveys indicate that Odalo is the leading candidate to replace Oluoch in Mathare due to his abilities to bring better leadership in Mathare. “Gratitude to the ODM movement and the Odinga family for trusting me, your next MP for Mathare constituency with the responsibility of mobilising resources towards the burial of Mrs.Beryl Achieng Odinga. It takes grace to earn such kind of trust especially from a family as respected as the Odinga family. I will not disappoint on this,” Odalo said. Odalo Rafuok has stepped in and carried Mathare with him. Indeed, Mathare can also lead on top tables and high callings, that Mathare Constituency have been yearning for. The resource mobilization committee is often tasked with the daunting task of organizing the funeral in line with the budget a role Odalo is seen as best capable due to his task as the Chairman of the Nairobi City County Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee. A memorial service is scheduled to take place at Consolata Shrine in Westlands on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. The Odinga family on Sunday appealed to Kenyans for financial support to help cover funeral expenses for the late Beryl. According to Raila Junior, the decision was made with the guidance and approval of his uncle, Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga. The chosen burial site, Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, holds deep personal and historical significance for the family. Located in Bondo, Siaya county, it is closely associated with the legacy of Kenya’s first Vice President, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Beryl’s father.
