The Linda Mwananchi Movement leadership team figures have been raided from ODM and other political parties, including Wiper and Jubilee parties as Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna moves to establish the outfit’s political structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The announcement came during the unveiling of the movement’s headquarters, where Sifuna, who is positioning himself as its presidential candidate, set November 13 for a National Delegates Convention (NDC) to formalise the proposed leadership.

Former ODM deputy party leader and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi will serve as party chairperson, deputised by former Makadara MP and ODM founder Reuben Ndolo.

Former Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition Secretary General and current Suba South MP Caroli Omondi of ODM has been proposed for the position of Secretary General.

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary and Jubilee party leader Dr Fred Matiang’i’s ally Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka elected on the oranfe party ticket will serve as the party's treasurer with Digital campaigner Abigael Gikonyo, widely known as Abbie Zuena as his deputy

The movement has also proposed Nairobi lawyer and former Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo as one of the Deputy Party Leaders, alongside the third term Mavoko Member of Parliament (MP) Wiper’s Patrick Makau Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and former Meru Governor and Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UMP) party leader Kawira Mwangaza after leaving her current party to take up a leadership position.

One of the four Deputy Party Leader positions and a deputy chairperson position have been reserved for representatives from the Coast region.

Other proposed appointments include The Equitable Party (TEP) national chairperson Curry Karani as Organising Secretary deputised by Funyula MP Dr Wilberforce Oundo.

Wakili Francy Kadide is Secretary for Legal Affairs reportedly appointed following recommendations from young people associated with the movement.

An ODM nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) and former Vice Chair-lady of AFC Leopards Carolyn Andisi Mayunzu, also known as Mama Yao will head the Women’s Alliance and Kenyan actress, poet, singer Fredah Onduso famously known as Kwamboka joins Linda Mwananchi as the President of the Youth League.

Narok ODM Chairman Nalengoyo, also known as "Kaza Roho", has been proposed as minority representative, while Yunus Juma will handle diaspora affairs and former party leader of The Equitable Party (TEP) Gilbert Shanga will handle international affairs.

Former DAP-K deputy party leader and current Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has been proposed as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and leader of the presidential campaign, with Odhiambo designated as his deputy in the campaign team.

Sifuna said the appointments were not final, noting that further positions would be filled after consultations and consideration by delegates at the November convention.

“By the end of this coming November, we want to have 47 offices in all counties and have our structures,” he said, adding that the rollout would begin with the opening of county offices in Kwale.

The November convention is expected to formalise the proposed leadership as Linda Mwananchi seeks to build a nationwide political structure ahead of the 2027 elections.

He claimed the movement had already attracted County Chairpersons from 38 counties, many of whom had previously been affiliated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

“The Linda Mwananchi party is starting with county chairpersons from 38 counties. Where did they come from? When we said we were leaving, they thought we were leaving alone. They will know today that we are leaving with the foundation,” he said.

The launch marks a significant step in Sifuna’s efforts to build a political vehicle outside ODM, as divisions and competing interests continue to shape the party’s relationship with Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said a Linda Mwananchi government would prioritise human rights, equality, transparency and the rule of law, including public disclosure of contracts for government projects.
