Kiambu Aquatics Holds Level 2 Swimming Championship at Potterhouse Senior School Runda

The Kiambu County successfully held a Level two swimming gala which brought together over 150 athletes from 19 teams drawn from five counties of Muranga, Nairobi, Laikipia , Machakos, Kiambu.
The Gala, held on 7th and 8th, at Potterhouse Senior School Runda was aimed at offering swimmers an opportunity to attain qualifying times for the upcoming Kenya Aquatics long course championship set to be held on 13th and 15th February 2025 at Moi International Sports center.
The overall team winner combining male and female medal count was Be A Pro Swim club which amassed 21 gold medals, 3 silvers and 5 bronze medals. Aga khan were first runners up with 14 gold 15 silvers and 13 bronze medals while Moi Education Center was second runners up with 12 gold and 2 silvers.
In the Men’s Category, BE A Prom Swim club topped the medal standings at position one with 14 golds, two silvers and five bronze medals. Second position was sealed by Seal Swim Club with 7 gold medals and Aga khan Swim club was in the third position with 6 golds, 10 silvers and 5 bronze medals.
In the Women category, Braeburn Swimming Club reigned supreme with 7 gold medals, 4 silvers and 1 bronze medal. They were followed by Wave warriors swimming club with 7 gold, 2 silvers and 3 bronze medals.
Jaeden Nygel of genesis sports limited won gold medal in the boys 10-11yrs 100 meters individual medley at a time of 1:29.05 which is a qualifying time to participate in the upcoming national championship. Charles Price from Super marlin Swim club got silver medal in a time of 1:42.15 while Junior Aaron from Woodcreek School won bronze medal in a time of 2:00.62
Girls 9 years and under 200 meters freestyle was won by Maya Smith from Wave Warriors swimming club in a time of 3:28.36 followed by Nadia Wachira from Visa dolphin in second position in a time of 3:30.89 while Olive Maina from Woodcreek school finished in third position in a time of 3:46.42
The coach of Wave warriors swimming club said that they brought their swimmers to the gala to prepare for the upcoming Kenya aquatics long course championship to be held at Kasarani. He is impressed by the level of growth of swimming in Kiambu. He is very optimistic that in the next five years many Kiambu swimmers will be able attain qualifying times to compete at the national stage.
Jayden Nygel , a swimmer from Genesis Sports Ltd was very happy with his performance in the gala. Speaking during the event, Jayden said he had improved his time in one of the events by 4 seconds after he had participated in the African Zone 3 championship held in Nairobi in 2025 whereby he finished in fourth position in his event. He is now aiming for a Podium finish for the upcoming Africa Zone 3 championship
Asmahan Buke from Moi Educational complex said that he had a pleasant experience despite the competion being stiff. He is hoping to be a swimming coach in feature. The best swimmers in their swimming age groups who garnered the most points after participating in various events to be able to win individual trophies were:
Female 9yrs and under Maya Smith , Wave warrior swimming club 54 points
Male 9yrs and under Levin Kimathi Wood creek school 55 points
Female 10-11 yrs Elle Wamaitha Braeburn swimming club 46 points
Male 10-11yrs Charles Price Super marlins 57 points
Female 12-13 yrs Nikita Ndirangu Braeburn Swimming Club 41 points
Male 12-13 yrs Jabulani Musembi Wave warriors Swimming Club 30 points
Female 14-15yrs Zawadi Zahra BE A PRO swim club 30 points
Male 14-15yrs Jude Vincent BE A PRO swim club 24 points
Male 16-17yrs Ethan Wamwenje Seal Swim Club 56 points
Male 18yrs and over Ezra Muhia BE A PRO Swim club 48 points

Preparation for the Kiambu Aquatics Sprints and relays swimming championship to be held on 14th and 15th march 2026 has started in earnest.
