Kenya is ready to host AFCON 2027 alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed, progress in the preparations for the #PamojaAFCON set to be hosted by the three East African countries is steady.
In a statement on the status of Kenya's stadiums and the impact of ongoing CAF inspections and upgrades on domestic competitions, Hussein noted that while local leagues will suffer short-term inconveniences, the end product will lead to long-term gains for Kenyan football even after the AFCON 2027.
The Local Organising Committee infrastructure team for Pamoja AFCON 2027 completed a 2-day technical pitch assessment with CAF's Pitch Management Expert, Aaron Mark Cross.
Six venues in Kenya were inspected, including Talanta City Stadium and Nyayo National Stadium, Moi Sports Centre Kasarani, Ulinzi Sports Complex, Utalii Grounds and the Kenya Academy of Sports training facilities. The latter 5hree facilities are set to be used as training grounds alongside Kasarani Annex.
According to Hussein, the findings of the inspection team will inform pitch maintenance and enhancement plans ahead of the continental showpiece. This exercise is crucial as it will also benefit local league matches and future international matches, ensuring facilities remain in top condition post-tournament.
Hussein emphasized that the LOC is working closely with CAF and other stakeholders in order to deliver high-quality playing surfaces for the 2027 Pamoja Afcon Tournament.
