Kenya Commercial Bank Recover from Mathare United Loss to beat Kariobangi Sharks
Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) edged out the 2018 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup champions Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 to return at the top of the SportPesa League on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
The all important goal was scored by scored by new signing Richard Omondi scoring his maiden goal for the bankers under the tutelage of ex-Harambee Stars assistant coach Robert Matano in the FKF Premier League at Moi, Kasarani Annex.
The attacking midfielder, signed from Division Two side Leads United, netted for his new side in the 36th minute, handing the Bankers their second win of the season and immediate reprieve following their shock 1-0 loss to the 2008 Premier League champions Mathare United last Friday.
Omondi swept a chested ball from Humphrey Mieno past Sebastian Wekesa, to strike the lone goal, to condemn Kariobangi Sharks to their first defeat of the season.
KCB, with the win, moved up to third, while Sharks dropped to ninth.
