Wiper Patritic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been appointed as the new Party Leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party, replacing the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Suba Member of Parliament (MP) Caroli Omondi from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was named Secretary General to replace National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed, while former Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisia was appointed Executive Director taking over from the ex-ruling Jubilee Party Secretary General Rapahael Tuju.
The coalition said the appointments were necessitated by “evolving political circumstances” that demanded prompt and strategic leadership adjustments to strengthen internal coordination and effectiveness.
“These changes are part of a deliberate effort to reposition and revitalise the coalition,” Azimio said in a statement following the meeting.
“The goal is to foster greater cohesion, effectiveness and unity as the coalition advances its agenda for the nation.”
The meetingheld on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, chaired by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta in his capacity as chairman of the Azimio Council, brought together senior coalition leaders who reviewed the party’s organisational structure, political environment and long-term strategy.
The elevation of Musyoka to Party Leader is intended to give Azimio a clear political anchor, while leveraging his experience in national politics and coalition-building.
Kisia, a seasoned administrator with experience in public service and political organisation, will oversee day-to-day operations as Executive Director, focusing on coordination, policy execution and institutional strengthening.
