Harambee Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Antony 'Sony' Kimemia's journey in his bid for the Makadara parliamentary seat continues to gain momentum following his latest evaluation as the third-best-ranking MCA in Nairobi. In the latest performance review of Nairobi City County Assembly members,  Kimemia secured a distinguished spot as the third best-performing MCA in Nairobi, even as he continues to solidify his stab at the Makadara MP seat in the next general elections.  The research, which evaluates legislative contribution, grassroots impact, and resource management, highlights Kimemia’s exceptional consistency in serving the people of Harambee Ward and the wider Nairobi community. This high ranking has come as no surprise to political observers in the city. Kimemia has remarkably been consistently ranked in the top three for the last three years in the County Ward Representative rankings, a feat that underscores his unwavering commitment to his mandate. Kimemia ranked third with an approval rating of 63%, with Victor Omondi of Lucky Summer coming second with a 64% rating. Wilfred Odalo of Mabatini topped at 72 % rating. The survey was conducted across Nairobi with the respondents ranging from the residents of Makadara constituency, which includes his Harambee ward, fellow MCAs, Nairobi county government officers, among them CEC's and Chief Officers, as well as various stakeholders. Kimemia’s ascent to the top of the rankings is built on a foundation of extensive experience. Now serving his third term as the MCA for Harambee Ward, he has become a symbol of stability in Makadara. Kimemia's leadership portfolio includes his contribution in his role as the past chairman of the Makadara Constituency Development Fund, where he managed constituency-wide development projects with precision. Kimemia was first elected in 2007 to 2013 when he served as chairman of CDF before getting elected MCA in 2017 and 2022 in Harambee ward. At the County Assembly, Kimemia has chaired several powerful sectoral committees, influencing key policies that affect the lives of millions of Nairobi residents. He is widely cited by fellow legislators as one of the most seasoned and respected voices at City Hall.  One of the key drivers of Kimemia’s high performance is his unique approach to inclusive governance. In a city as diverse as Nairobi, "Sony" has gained a reputation for working seamlessly with residents of all ethnic backgrounds. His distribution of resources, ranging from bursaries to ward development funds, is meticulously balanced to ensure that every resident, regardless of their tribe or origin, benefits equitably.  This "tribe-blind" leadership has made Harambee Ward a model for national integration at the local level. Kimemia has emerged as the People’s MCA who is easy and accessible despite his seniority and the powerful positions he has held. He remains one of the most accessible leaders in the county. Having rejected the "ivory tower" style of politics and preferring to remain on the ground where he can be reached by his constituents, Kimemia is a man who, whether attending local community meetings or holding open office hours, is visible and has ensured that the concerns of the mwananchi are directly translated into legislative action.
