Green Congress Opens Landmark Office in Siaya As Journey to Green Future Takes Shape

The Green Congress of Kenya party has today officially opened the party’s new office in Awelo, Siaya County in a move that cements a dedication from the party to honour the past of the country in order to secure a future of transformative politics in Kenya. The official opening ceremony was spearheaded by the Green Congress Party Leader Hillary Alila who was flanked by dedicated supporters and community leaders reinforcing his commitment and that of the party to inspire positive transformation and a commitment to the people of Kenya into the future. Giving his keynote address, Alila, who is a former senate candidate and former President of the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission said that the party opted to start with Siaya to plant the deepest roots of the Green Congress of Kenya in the very soil where the flame of transformative politics in Kenya was lit in honour of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. "Why start in Siaya and not in the skyscrapers of Nairobi? Our answer is written in the history of this great land. We begin here because the journey of a thousand miles must begin where the heart is. Our political heart, as a party of change, beats in rhythm with the legacy of a son of this soil, the Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga,” Alila said. Further emphasizing the party’s choice of inaugural office, Alila noted that Siaya is the symbol of resilience, the birthplace of courage, and the wellspring of progressive thought being the home county of Kenyas father of devolution and a leading light to the fight for the second liberation Raila Odinga. During the ceremony, Alila led the party in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony which represents the deep roots and growth in the community which Green Congress of Kenya seeks to establish. “Today we stand here in Siaya not just to open our new office but we are here to inherit and modernize a legacy of good governance. The legacy of fighting for the common citizen. The legacy of championing green energy and environmental justice. The legacy of believing, truly believing, that power belongs to the people. Our mission and promise to the people of Kenya from this office is to translate that enduring legacy into tangible action. This office is a Service Point for the Community, a place where the ideals of social justice meet the daily needs of our people,” Alila continued. The Party Leader offered that indeed, the Green Congress of Kenya offices are primed to be the engine room for Kenya’s Green Agenda, championing the next frontier of the liberation struggle which included a liberation from environmental degradation like protecting Lake Victoria and our lands, just as the countries past leaders fought to protect our freedoms. Alila noted that Green Congress of Kenya seeks to liberate Kenya from poverty by creating a sustainable, green-collar jobs and supporting climate-resilient agriculture to secure our economy. While emphasizing on the party’s agenda in liberating the country from poor governance, Alila committed to upholding the timeless Odinga principles of transparency, accountability, and fearless advocacy for what is right.
