Ex- President Ruto’s Ally Eliud Owalo Launches Bid to Send Head of State Home
Former Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has officially launched the People's Prosperity Party (PPP) and declared his bid for the presidency in the 2027 presidential elections.
During the launch of the party, Owalo said that if elected in next year's polls, his administration will be solely centred on economic liberation.
Launching the party on Wednesday, Owalo outlined what he described as a transformational agenda anchored on tax reforms, economic growth, sports development, constitutionalism and the rule of law. He said Kenya needed "a fresh start" after decades of missed opportunities.
Owalo said all the reforms proposed by his party would be anchored on the Constitution, maintaining that every Kenyan should be treated equally before the law.
"Today, I officially announce that I intend to seek the presidency of the Republic of Kenya on the People's Prosperity Party ticket. The party nominates me as its flag bearer," Owalo said.
The party, whose slogan is “Ustawi kwa Wote“, also unveiled its headquarters, Ustawi House, which will serve as the party’s national office and secretariat.
Owalo said the People’s Prosperity Party is founded on the principle of ensuring prosperity reaches every Kenyan, with the slogan “Ustawi kwa Wote” reflecting its commitment to inclusive economic growth and shared national development.
The presidential hopeful urged leaders whom he described as progressive to use his party ticket to contest for various seats.
Speaking on Wednesday during the launch of the People’s Prosperity Party (PPP), Mr Owalo maintained that he is fit to lead the country into its third liberation.
Owalo dismissed speculations that he might be President William Ruto’s project saying that he does not subscribe to the one term, or two term slogan, but ready for the change that will liberate Kenyans from the taxes and high cost of living.
Owalo further said that he is ready to work with the likeminded Kenyans who will liberate the country from President Ruto’s regime.
“To liberate Kenyans from the stranglehold of the vampire state, crocodile liberators masquerading as reformers and their crony capitalists; Kenya needs the Third Liberation: the economic emancipation of Kenyans and the birth of the third republic,” Mr Owalo said.
“Kenya now needs a Fresh Start anchored on the Third Liberation Agenda and facilitated by transformational leadership. That’s why I’m seeking a fresh term.”
