Ex-deputy President Gachagua Confirmed As United Opposition Spokesman

Former Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has been confirmed as the official spokesperson for the united opposition. Former Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) and Democracy Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa declared that Gachagua who is the Democracy For Citizens (DCP) party leader remains the official spokesperson for the opposition outfit. While outlining the resolve by the outfit to remain united on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Wamalwa stressed that any communication with any member of the opposition should be done through the DCP leader. “The United Opposition has one family spokesperson, Rigathi Gachagua, our cousin and family spokesperson,” said Wamalwa who is a principal in the United Opposition group. “If anyone wants to reach the Opposition, they know the address; go to Wamunyoro and talk to him. Unity is not an option; it is truly an imperative, the most lethal weapon in the Opposition’s arsenal,” he added. The United Opposition consists of former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper Patriotc Front, Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) founded by the late President Mwai IKibaki led by ex Attorney General Justin Muturi, fomer ruling party Junilee heade by ex-president Uhuru Kenyatta, People’s Liberation Party led by the 2022 late Raila Odinga presidential running mate Martha Karua, former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu's Farmers Party, DCP and DAP-K Speaking on Saturday, September 20, 2025, Gachagua took off Prident William Ruto over his continued overtures to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka. He warned Ruto to stop sending people to look for Kalonzo, insisting that he should speak to him [Gachagua] directly. “We have come here as a family of cousins. I am the spokesman of this family. You go and find your own family,” he added. Gachagua told Ruto to approach him in any dealings he wishes to make with Kalonzo. “Sisi na nyinyi, we are one family. Sindio. Wakati umefika familia ikae pamoja. Na tunaambia Ruto, keep off family matters, sindio? Wewe unatumana ati kila siku watu wako watafute huyu Kalonzo. Please, wewe ukitaka Kalonzo uongee na mimi. Yes.
