CFAO Mobility Kenya Commits KES 48.5 Million to 2026 Safari Rally and Youth Motorsport Development
CFAO Mobility Kenya has announced a major sponsorship and development package of KES 48,535,200 to support the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally. This contribution strengthens CFAO’s long-term investment in Kenyan motorsport, bringing total support to over KES 153 million in the past six years. The sponsorship reinforces Toyota’s legacy in rallying, boasting 12 WRC championship titles across different eras, including Group B and the current WRC Hybrid category. Speaking during the official cheque handover, Arvinder Reel, Managing Director of CFAO Mobility Kenya, emphasized the company’s commitment to grassroots motorsport development. “Our investment goes beyond sponsorship. We are nurturing young talent and championing initiatives that enhance Kenya’s presence in global rallying,” said Mr. Reel. Investing in Talent: Rally School and Cross Car Projects CFAO Mobility Kenya has donated two FIA-approved Toyota Starlet rally cars to the Safari Rally Training School Project. Built in collaboration with Kenyan automotive engineers to FIA Rally 5 standards, the cars cost KES 34.5 million and were officially presented to the President of Kenya at State House, demonstrating the country’s commitment to motorsport development. In addition, CFAO has developed a prototype Cross Car for junior drivers aged 12 to 17, costing KES 3.7 million and built to FIA specifications. This initiative will promote grassroots rallying and create a structured pathway for emerging talent in Kenya. “We have also partnered with South Africa’s Botterill Motor Sport to develop a rally training curriculum. A training camp for local drivers and navigators, along with the handover of the curriculum to the Safari Rally Secretariat, ensures this project continues long after the rally,” added Mr. Reel. Recognizing Impact and Engaging Fans CFAO Mobility hosted an exclusive fan meet-and-greet with drivers from the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team (TGR), providing a unique experience for rally enthusiasts. The Principal Secretary for the State Department of Sports, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, praised CFAO Mobility Kenya for its contribution: “Their investment in Toyota Starlets, development of the Rally Academy curriculum, and creation of Kenya’s first affordable FIA Cross Car are crucial steps toward building local talent and technical skills. Collaboration with TVETA can further boost local production and expertise in the sector.” Global Stars at Safari Rally Attending the event were Elfyn Evans, current WRC championship leader and 2025 Safari Rally winner; Samo Pajari; and 24-year-old rising Kenyan rally talent. Legendary Juha Kankkunen, 1985 Safari Rally winner and Deputy Team Principal, was also present. Mr. Reel highlighted the Toyota Hilux’s continued role as the “double zero” and “triple zero” opening cars, noting the vehicles’ quality, durability, and reliability. CFAO Mobility Kenya continues to invest in motorsport while expanding mobility solutions in the country, strengthening Kenya’s presence in global rallying and nurturing the next generation of talent.
