The Kenya Pamoja AFCON 2027 Local Organising Committee together with experts from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials, concluded the safety, security and infrastructure inspections at Kasarani Main Stadium, the Kasarani Annexes, Utalii Grounds and Kenya Academy of Sports training sites. This marks the completion of the current inspection phase, with the next phase scheduled in three months as preparations for hosting Pamoja AFCON 2027 continue in collaboration with CAF and key stakeholders. During the inspection, the FKF team was led by the Acting FKF General Secretary/CEO Dennis Gicheru along with the chairman of the LOC Nicholas Musonye where they took the CAF experts around the venues which will be used as the training grounds for the 2027 AFCON set to be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Yesterday, CAF President Dr.Patrice Motsepe dismissed concerns about East Africa’s readiness to host AFCON 2027, expressing confidence in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda despite ongoing infrastructure scrutiny. Speaking after the Confederation of African Football Executive Committee meeting in Dar es Salaam, he termed reports about potential withdrawal of hosting rights as unfounded, insisting the tournament — set for July 2027 — will be a success while acknowledging preparation challenges are normal. Motsepe added that CHAN will help build capacity ahead of the competition and assured CAF’s support, warning that criticism over stadium readiness may continue but stressing confidence that the region will deliver and elevate its football standing. Dr. Motsepe said that the continental body is confident the the AFCON 2027 will be a celebration at which, many young talents will be identified making the region a football powerhouse.
