Kenya Power has announced planned power maintenance affecting several areas across the country on Thursday, March 19, 2026. The company said the maintenance is part of routine efforts to ensure reliable electricity supply. “The following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow,” the statement from Kenya Power read. In Nairobi, residents of Kiamumbi, part of Kahawa West, Midas, Sidia Farm, Kamiti Prison, and surrounding areas will experience a power outage from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The company advised customers to make necessary arrangements. Parts of Uasin Gishu County, including Maili Nne, Kapchumba, and Kapkeben, will also be without electricity during the same hours. Kenya Power stated that the outage will affect Kapchumba, Kapkeben, Kapyemit Primary, Petrocity, Maili Nne Centre, and nearby customers. In Nyeri County, areas such as Kihari, Waihara, and markets including Kabebero, Iriani, Thunguri, and Kirini, along with schools like Othaya Boys and Othaya Approved School, will experience a power cut. Kenya Power confirmed that the maintenance work in Kirinyaga County will continue from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Areas include Kagumo Town, Gatwe Mkt, Rwambiti TBC, Muriko, Mutira Village, Kabonge Mkt, Kiaragana Mkt, Hukoini Village, Gatamayo Mkt, Nyandumuma Mkt and adjacent customers. Residents of Kitui County will also be affected. Areas include Tulia Mkt, Muthale Mkt, Kakeani Mkt, Uvaani Mkt, Yalatani Mkt, Kangondi Mkt, Kasue Mkt, Muthale Mission Hosp, Muthale Girls, Mutonguni Girls, Kwa Siku Mkt, Kangii Sec and adjacent customers. Parts of Nyamira County, including Nyansiongo Tea, Highland Creamers, Manga, Kijauri, Laitigo, Tinderet, Metamaywa, Rigoko Sec and adjacent customers, will be without electricity.The company urged residents and businesses to take precautions. In Kiambu County, areas like Kawaida, Gatatha Farmers, Kimorori, Kawaida, Black Petals, Koba Waters, Takataka Solutions, Nazareth Hosp, Etee Farm, Riara, Gatono Village, Clarence Matheny, Jormalis will experience outages. Kenya Power reassured customers that the outages are temporary and necessary for system upgrades and safety. The utility urged all affected residents and businesses to prepare by ensuring backup power sources and adjusting schedules where possible. Customers were also reminded to report any emergencies promptly through Kenya Power’s customer service channels. Kenya Power said the maintenance work is part of its ongoing commitment to improve service reliability and reduce unexpected power interruptions.
